Verified by Visa is Visa's Internet payment authentication process that reduces the potential for fraud in online purchases.

Arcot Systems and Visa International developed the 3-D Secure protocol in 2000, which is the basis for the Verified by Visa program. 3-D Secure allows card issuers to authenticate cardholders using passwords, chip cards, digital certificates, etc. during purchase transactions. Arcot TransFort was the first software package identified as compliant under the Visa Authenticated Payment Program. Arcot TransFort solutions enable authentication for all parties of an online transactions, including issuing banks, payment processors, online merchants, and merchant aggregators.
