Executive Promotion
New CTO to drive the company's future technological vision and strategy
Sunnyvale, California -- April 10, 2007 — Arcot Systems, the Authentication Authority™, today announced the promotion of Jim Reno to chief technology officer from his previous position as the vice president of product development & engineering, effective immediately. An eight-year veteran of Arcot, Reno will be responsible for driving Arcot's technology strategy and product development forward.
"As chief technology officer, Jim will define and build Arcot's future vision and strategy for our authentication, digital signing and e-payment solutions," said Ram Varadarajan, chief executive officer at Arcot. "His vast experience in product development and engineering together with his knowledge and insights of the customers' needs and today's technological advances in this area makes Jim the obvious choice for Arcot's new CTO.
Reno brings decades of engineering expertise and product development success to Arcot. Prior to joining Arcot in 1999 as vice president, product development and engineering, Reno was vice president and chief technologist at Vantive Corporation. He has also held senior development and management positions at various high technology companies. Reno is one of the inventors of the 3-D Secure protocol used in the Verified by Visa and MasterCard SecureCode programs. He led the development of the Arcot digital signature technology enabling pharmaceuticals to send clinical trials to the FDA entirely in electronic format. With Adobe, Reno invented the Adobe Signature Services Protocol and directed the development of strong software authentication technology incorporated in Adobe® Acrobat® 8 and Adobe® Reader® 8. Additionally, he guided the strategy and development of authentication and risk management systems for consumer portals in the financial services industry. Reno was instrumental in the integration of Arcot technology into enterprise identity management systems. He holds granted and multiple outstanding patents in the area of credit card verification and authentication. Jim holds a BS from MIT, a MS from the University of Illinois, and a MBA from the University of Bridgeport.
