Universal Client - Overview

The Arcot Universal Client is a single interface that deploys, manages, and validates digital certificates for enterprises with high security requirements such as financial institutions, pharmaceuticals, and healthcare companies. The Universal Client solves credential generation, authentication and digital signing needs and provides an enhanced, yet simplified, user experience and a stronger brand through customizable on-screen graphics.

Arcot's Universal Client is compliant with a variety of industry initiatives including Identrus' authentication, signing and validation; SAFE's pharmaceutical industry initiative; and FDA's 21 CFR Part 11. With Arcot, you have complete flexibility to determine how you want to protect your users' credentials. The Arcot Universal Client can be used with the ArcotID Secure Software Credential, USB token, or a hardware smart card.

Digital Signing within Web and Non-Web Applications

• Identrus-compliant browser plug-in
• Adobe plug-in for signing and verification of PDF documents
• Thumbprint hash signing feature to optimize the signing of large documents

Multiple Credential Support

• Signing using ArcotID secure software credential roaming credentials and secure USB tokens
• Signing using hardware smartcards, including Gemplus and Datakey

Certificate Validation

• Built-in OCSP module communicates with OCSP servers to check certificate validity during signature validation
• Supports the Identrus four corner model for certificate validation
• Customizable representation of Identrus validation results for end-user friendly transaction audit representation, employing XML standards and extensible stylesheets (XSL)

Certificate Deployment

• Remote loading feature for deployment of certificates to corporate enterprise smart cards and employee badges
• Supports deployment of ArcotID secure software credential as backup roaming credentials

Flexible GUI

• User-friendly GUI displays custom brand images during operation
• Customized watermark for Adobe PDF signatures

Multiple Language Support

• Fully Internationalized GUI
• Planned language support includes: English, Japanese, French, and Spanish

Install and Packaging

• Industry-standard InstallShield packaging
• Delivered in multiple forms including web download and CD-ready packaging. Compatible with enterprise “push” packaging
• Customized Client Configuration tool to configure OCSP settings, trusted root certificates, policy extensions, branding, and supported smartcard module configuration

Optional VPN-Connector Module

• Enables VPN clients to utilize various credentials during VPN authentication
• Uses the same common look and feel as browser-based authentication
